enviromental health Program
AHEC of Southern Nevada's Environmental Health Program focuses on raising awareness of diseases and conditions that may be caused or exacerbated by environmental factors. Our aim is to provide education and outreach strategies to minimize these health risks and cultivate a healthy relationship between the residents of Southern Nevada and the environment.
Current projects include:
AHEC Community Awareness Project to Prevent Lead Poisoning (ACAP)
This program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The major goals of ACAP are:
- Increased community visibility and awareness of childhood lead poisoning among the general public in Clark County.
- Increased recognition of the hazards and knowledge of available remediation resources relative to lead poisoning among children in Hispanic and immigrant families and communities in Clark County.
